Physiological Testing

The only way to determine precisely what intensity you need to train at, is to get physiologically tested.  Every person is different, and no equation or formula can pinpoint where you need to be to hit your goals.  Thankfully, we CAN find exactly where you need to be through testing in a lab.  Testing is done in person, and we are now able to offer the most accurate testing available: Lactate Threshold.  This test looks at the amount of lactate, and can show exactly what your "red line" is, where you are mostly aerobic, and mostly anaerobic.  This is the test the best athletes have done routinely, This is their guide. This is how every training book is written, although through estimation.   We can measure it exactly, and not hope that a generic formula applies. 

LT testing is available for all three sports of triathlon, and are even able to do the testing in your own home (treadmill necessary for run testing).  All tests come with a 10+ page packet on LT and how to understand your results, training zones, charts/graphs/hard data, zone descriptions, sample workouts, and notes from Nick during testing.



Lactate Threshold (Swim, Bike, or Run) Determine training zones as percentage of lactate threshold, most accurate training zones:
