"I have been an athlete of Nick’s for two seasons now. I was working with another coach, but felt like I wasn’t going anywhere. We were training based off of HR and found my progress going slow. After discussing this with Nick, and doing run/cycle testing, he opted for using speed/ftp zones rather than HR. Before you know it I was pulling out PRs and my HR ended up coming down along with it! He listened to me and came up with a POA that’s worked for ME. In the first year I completed 2 70.3 distance races and Ironman Lake Placid (first 70.3 and 140.6 distance). This year I did all three races again. I PRd everyone of them significantly in worse conditions on new harder courses! I’m looking forward to what the future holds for my racing with Ascension Multisport!!"
"Nick’s knowledge and experience make him a talented coach, but it’s his passion that really sets him above. He does not simply send over a template plan and leave it at that. Instead he constantly interacts with his athletes throughout and improves their plan with calculated feedback.
I hired him to create a 5 week plan to prepare for a 5K race. With an ambitious goal of dropping my best time from 26:30 to under 25 minutes in just a month, I was not sure what to expect. I found the further into the plan I got, the more I felt the difference. Halfway into the race I knew I could do something special. Because of Nick’s training, I not only broke 25 minutes but dropped under 24!
Well beyond handing out a standard template of a training plan, Nick customizes each plan based on personal abilities. We were in constant communication after each workout to gauge my progress and adjust the upcoming workouts accordingly. Better yet, his knowledge of physiology and biomechanics allowed his to diagnose any pain I felt coming on and take care of it before it became a real issue. I haven’t felt this good since the height of my NCAA Division I collegiate career. Nick has transformed me from a short sprinter into a viable distance runner in just over a month!

"Nicholas stepped up and offered to give advice to Ironman Maryland athletes on how to extend their training by two weeks following the cancellation/postponement of the race. This just shows you what kind of guy he is--he loves the sport!"
"My 2014 triathlon season was full of expectations and goals. Nick has been with me for the whole process. I had completed a couple of 5km races and a few Olympic Tri’s, but, this year I wanted to complete a Long Course Triathlon… Specifically Ironman Lake Stevens 70.3. At the beginning of the season I had no Idea how to train for something that long. 6+ hours of “racing”? It seemed daunting, but, I wanted it.
Nick’s planning for my season was key. I had other races I would do and no idea how to be ready for all of them. Structured weekly workouts and constant feedback on how they went was amazing. I could find some accountability by needing to check in with Coach. Nick was always getting back to me with insight and adapting workouts to get the most from me. I was able to find a level of fitness that made Olympic Triathlons fun to complete, and I found I can be competitive in a tough age group: M 40-44.
My best Run split before this year of coaching was 9:30 pace. My first Oly of this season I hit 8:05s off of a bike effort pushing 22 MPH. Thanks Nick. I needed your support and encouragement and I got it!! 3 Olympics and A super day at Ironman Lake Stevens 70.3 and I feel great!! Recovery and Nutrition played huge rolls in my year and I learned something new about them from Nick all the time. Btw… my “6+ hours “ of racing turned into a 5:25 at IMLS . Thanks again Nick. Next up: Ironman CDA 2015"
"Nick is an awesome dude and really knows his stuff. From getting me into easily the best shape of my life to helping with literately anything and everything I could have possibly needed. Although I live in the Midwest and have done everything through emails and phone calls he really bends over backwards to make things workout. Looking forward to the next season with him! IRON MAN WISCONSIN HERE WE COME!!!!!"
"Nick is a phenomenal coach. He works with his athletes to get results, but also understands that we do this sport because it's fun. He listens well and knows his stuff. He's also a complete dork and we all love him more for it! Thanks for the great season, and I look forward to working with you next season!"
"Nicholas took my half marathon training to a whole new level. Having completed several endurance events over the course of 6 years, I thought I knew what I was doing. Nicholas' plan was unlike anything I have done before, and set me up for a PR of over 15 minutes! I would highly recommend Nicholas to anyone looking to enter the endurance world and test their limits!"
"My experience with Nick's personal training has been very rewarding and motivating. Nick has taught me an incredible amount about fitness and nutrition. He puts together challenging workouts that push me to go beyond what I think I am capable of. Nick has really motivated me to stay on track with my fitness, and has helped me to begin to achieve the results that I have hoped for. I look forward to continuing my fitness journey with him!"
"After my first season of self-training in triathlon it became clear I needed guidance. I was fortunate enough to find Nick online. His guidance with balancing out training for three disciplines and juggling life really helped me to take it to the next level as a triathlete. Season two of “tri-ing” was a totally different experience. Nick helped me build endurance, was extremely helpful (and patient) with any questions I had, big and small. Thanks to him I was able to safely and successfully complete my first Ironman 70.3. I would highly recommend Nick for a Coach."
"Nick has a vast in depth knowledge of the field of exercise science and has been able to use it to his fullest advantage in helping me reach my fitness goals. From Nicks help as my trainer I have reached goals in a six week period that if I had been doing everything on my own would have taken me 4-6 months. I would absolutely, and without a doubt, recommend Nick. He has done an amazing job and is completely dedicated to what he does and to the clients he works with."
"He is always positive and encouraging, and has helped motivate me to achieve my fitness goals"
